"We will open the book. It's pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day."
- Edith Lovejoy Pierce
This year has been enormous in the puzzle that is my life. The year LITERALLY began with a bang! Andrekus proposed to me at Midnight on January 1st. The year otherwise began as usual - both of us juggling work and school, trying our best to catch a glimpse of each other before we closed our eyes at night. But that proposal changed me.
We always get lost in the chaos of our crazy lives, but this year God had different plans. In early September, we got the call that Dad had a stroke in Iran while visiting family. God moved in our family as I had never felt. I heard him - really heard him - for the first time in my life, and it changed me.
So this year has been anything but a yawn. It has been monumental. I have been changed, both in a way that I hoped, as well as in a way that I could never have imagined. God is unfolding his plan for our lives one moment at a time, and I am so excited to see what he has planned for 2009! Thank you God for our many blessings and our wonderful family and friends in 2008. 2009, Here we come!
God Willing! God has his plan! It's the master plan, and we are not here to question Him. "For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord...." It is always enough, and never conditional!

Proud!

I am so proud of my fiance! He is such a wonderful man. He is smart, patient, kind, caring, and he cares so much for me. These are pictures from his graduation from Graduate School. He graduated magna cum laude from UNT with a Master of Science in Criminology! He was also the president of the honor society, Alpha Phi Sigma. (FYI: the cords are for graduating magna cum laude, the gold is for being a member in the honor society, and the medal is for being the president of it!) I cannot express how wonderfully proud I am that this man will soon be my husband!

Thanksgiving!
My Sarah and Jack

These two are some kind of special. This morning we had the "Hanging of the Greens" at chuch. Sarah and Jack both sang with their Sunday School groups during the service and they did a wonderful job. The pics are kind of hazy because it was hard to be inconspicuous in church. So I went the easy way and took them from our screens!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMY!!!

My sister is the most giving person I have ever known. She would, and has, given people the appliances from her kitchen because they need them. She thinks if they need them, they must need them more than she does. I don't follow the logic, but she does and I think it is a remarkable characteristic. She is a woman very in touch with her emotions, raising 3 wonderful kids and she does a great job holding it together. Happy Birthday Amy, love you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!
My mom has been wonderful lately. I know she has been tired and run down, but she has done great!!! You can tell the love She and Dad have for each other is a gift from God. She swore she'd never get on a plane to go farther than Vegas, but she sure did travel to Germany to be with him in a heart beat! So, Happy Birthday Mom! It's your day today!

Wedding Stuff!

With my Daddy getting better every day...he says he is going to walk me down the aisle...that gets me thinking about wedding plans. Here are a few pictures of my engagement ring! It is perfect. My fiance is so precious! I showed him this picture of this exact wedding set over two years ago. Little did I know he printed the picture and kept it until he was ready to propose. He took the picture to the jeweler and said, "I need this ring." Am I spoiled or what!!!!!

My Sweetie!

I thought it would be a good time to add the few pics, admittedly older, of my fiance and I that I have. We are determined to take new pics ASAP because our pictures, while not old, are not as new as they could be. We are high school sweethearts. We went to college together and are both now finishing Post Grad degrees. His dedication and work ethic are an inspiration to me. I love him so much!

New Video of Dad!
Ok..this video is long, I'll admit. But I am a sucker for watching my Dad's progress. Thank you Jesus - he's getting so good at walking! He doesn't have an assist on that left leg like he did just a few short days ago! Even the therapist was gushing on how much he improved from yesterday!!!!

Amazing Grace!
The grace of God is so wonderful. I continue to be awed by it every day! Above is a video of my father walking!!!! WALKING!!!!! God is truly working miracles today. Of this I am certain!
My Hero was Hurt and I wasn't There!

My dad recently traveled to Iran to visit our family. While there, he suffered a serious stroke. I told him at the airport when we dropped him off that if anything happened, I would come get him. And that's exactly what I did. I was able to see my family that I hadn't seen in 10 years, but even more important, I got to my Dad and brought him home! Since he's gotten back, he has made WONDERFUL strides. He is, of course, exceeding everyone's expectations for his progress. I will never forget the sermen we heard the Sunday morning we found out about Dad's stroke. The speaker said, "I want you to know that God is working miracles today, just as he did in the Bible." I now know that is true! Thank you God! Here is a picture of my sweet Daddy in the hospital! I love you Ghand-E!
My Hero!
My father has been my Hero since I was a little girl. I wanted nothing more than to impress him every day. He just seemed to be this wealth of knowledge. He had all the answers to everyone's questions. You could NOT throw him a curveball. Here is a picture of us from a birthday I had a couple of years ago!
